Ryujiro Oyabu is a Japanese contemporary ceramics artist who based on Tokyo. When he was childhood, he was fascinated to excavate fossil of shells and sometimes found a broken pieces of Jomon Doki.

When he was 22 years old, he visited Alaska for two months, as a assistant for a professional wildlife photographer Keishin Kubo, He has been fascinated, and captured by the power of nature and appearances of numberless animals.

That is why he  has constantly applied a form from the nature for his pieces since then.

Previous 10 years, he had always tried to make a piece, be suitable for a modern life in Japan which has had long history about Ceramics that is over 15,000-years more. However, Occasionally, working in the great environment is being obstructed to make a decision, which is the right way or wrong.

Now he has a strong desire to know how to combine with tradition and modern (contemporary) in ceramics art. This is it one of my objective.

Therefore, he will exploring to feel about oversea’s ceramic arts and the materials of ceramics, more globally.

At the same time, he continues to explore Japanese ceramics art which is always in the center of  our traditional Japanese culture that is superbly attractive.
